Been a while since I updated here, so here's what's going on with the book. I just finished the script for issue six, which clocks in at 38 pages. Nic and Shawn will be starting to draw the issue this week, and Carlos and Marcelo are currently winding down their part of issue five.

Issue three is now available to buy, and issue four will be out later this month. The whole book is going to be finished by the end of April, and we'll be putting out a TPB in June, where I'll have a booth at the MoCCA con in New York City. So, stop by there if you're in town, and you'll be able to grab a signed copy of the first printing.

Issue Two Now Available

Issue two is now available. Order it now to get a copy from the first batch. I think it's a great issue, even stronger than our first. The cover is below, and I think it looks quite good.

If you read issue one and are still wondering, so what is Division Shadow, then this is the issue for you. A lot more details about the characters are revealed and the real driving issues of the book come into focus.

Work continues on the book. Issue one is still available, and we should start seeing reviews of the issue on a bunch of sites in the next week or so. Hopefully they'll be good, I believe in the book, but I'm interested to see the critical reaction.

Issue two is available to order, you can grab it in the store, along with a subscription plan that can get you issues 2-6 as soon as they're released, and at a discount. Issue two is still being lettered, and there may be a slight delay in getting it out, but it should be out around November 15 still. So, look for that. We're already most of the way through issue three, and Nic and Shawn have started on issue four.

Issue One Now Available

Issue Two's Pencils Finished

More good news to announce, the pencils for issue two are now finished. Carlos and Marcelo have about eight pages to ink, and then the art for the issue will be done. We're on pace to have the book out as scheduled, on November 15. It's looking great, by the time the first issue is out, I'll have a five page preview of issue 2 up on the site.

Carlos has sent me the first demo tracks from the soundtrack, and they're sounding great. He's going to refine them, and then we'll put a couple of tracks up on the site.

As the first issue's launch date gets closer you'll be seeing some interesting stuff up on the site. I did an interview with The Pulse that should go online pretty soon. So look for that, and if you haven't ordered the book yet, now's the time.

Issue One Printed

Today the first batch of issue one copies were printed, and they look great. Order now to ensure that you get your copy when it's released. I'm very proud of the way that this turned out, it' been a long journey to this point, and it's very gratifying to see the final book in print, even though it feels like work that was done a long time ago. I wrote the script nearly two years ago, and issue one was pretty much locked when it came time to draw the book, whereas I was working on all the other issues right up to the point when they were drawn.

But that doesn't change the fact that it's cool to be able to hand someone a copy of the book that they can read. That's immensely gratifying. In terms of future progress, issue two is going well, about three quarters finished, and Nic's already done a bunch of his stuff on issue three, so we'll be able to stick to the monthly schedule. There's going to be a bunch of new stuff coming up on the site as we get closer to the launch, so be on the lookout for it, it should be pretty cool.

Issue One Preview Online Now!

Today we've added a thirteen page preview of issue one to the site. You can download it in PDF form (right click + save as). This is a public domain file and I want to get it out to as many readers as possible, so e-mail it to your friends, post in on your site, whatever you can do to spread it around. And besides that, I hope you enjoy reading it, it gives you a taste of the book, and will hopefully whet your appetite for the whole meal.

Issue One Almost Finished

Our letterer, Damian, sent me three new pages today, meaning that we've only got three pages left to be lettered and then the first issue is finished. It's a bit strange working now because everyone is at a different stage in the book. Issue one is almost finished being lettered, but Damian and Shawn have already finished their pencils for issue two, and have started on three. I'm still revising issue three, and am writing issue five, while Carlos is halfway through his pencils for issue two. So, it's a bit tough to keep focus, and finishing issue one almost seems like an afterthought at this point, but I'm still very proud of the fact that we did it, and I think it came out very well.

In other news, I've been working on a redesign for the site, to make a bit easier to navigate, and more aesthetically pleasing. That should be online by the weekend.

The Soundtrack

In a new development, Carlos Devizia, our artist for story strand 2, is going to be making a soundtrack for the book. This is going to consist of songs from the world of Division Shadow, like the music in Al-Fayed's club, as well as 'score' music, songs that are designed to go along with the emotional beats of certain scenes. We're going to have some tracks available to download when the first issue is released, and we're also going to be selling the complete soundtrack on CD eventually. And henceforth, Division Shadow shall be known as The Division Shadow Multimedia Lumino-Sonic Spectacular!

Moving Along

Production keeps zipping along. Shawn's finished his pages for issue two, and Nic is just about done. Carlos and Marcelo are through two pages, with about eight to go, so issue two will be fully drawn well before issue one is even released, which is great. It means that we'll be able to keep to a fairly solid monthly schedule in releasing the book. That's the advantage of using three artists.

I've been writing a lot too, I finished chapter four and have started chapter five, which expedites the process of bringing the book to a close. We've still got a way to go, but in little over a month, you'll be able to get your first taste of the book.

Issue One's Art Finished

Carlos and Marcelo sent me the last two inked pages for issue one, which means that all the art is done. Six of the twenty-four pages are lettered, and I'd suspect we'll finish a while before October 26, but I'm not going to release the book until then anyway, just because I want us to get ahead on things, so we can stick to a relatively monthly schedule.

Site Updates

Issue four is in the works and I think it's one of, if not the, best issue yet. It's a six issue book, so with issue four, a lot of the plot points are starting to come to a head. You'll probably be reading this issue around February.

In other news, I updated the front page of the site a bit, and did some general maitenance. And right now, we're working out the price of the first issue. Once that's done, you'll be able to pre-order it, and get a copy from the first printed batch.

The old blog was very ugly looking, so I decided to just host the news blog here on Blogspot.

The biggest news today is that the pencils for issue one are completely done. However, to accomodate time for lettering and give us a chance to get ahead on issue two, the first issue will not be released until October 26. So, save the date and be there to get your first issue of Division Shadow.
